About

Notes I actually use to get through PGDA

Hi, I’m Courts. I’m doing the same PGDA/CTA year you are right now.

Before this, I tutored accounting all through my undergrad, and I completed the Bridging to CTA through Milpark with two distinctions and an average of over 70% across all four modules. That came from a lot of trial and error in how I studied, and these notes are what I wish I’d had from the start.

Each section is a standalone PDF: the principle, the standard or section of the Act, the calculation layout, and the traps that cost marks in tests. Everything is in plain language and readable on a laptop or printed. You don’t have to buy a whole module. If deferred tax is what’s keeping you up, buy deferred tax.

Outside of studying, you’ll usually find me at the pool coaching swimming to younger kids. Helping people and giving back has always mattered to me, and this is my way of doing that for students going through the same year I am.

Student feedback

I loved these PGDA notes! They broke down the content into bite-sized, easy to understand sections and included practical examples that made applying the theory much easier. I especially found the Auditing notes helpful when the class material felt a bit disorientated. Everything was explained so simply, which helped me feel confident that I had mastered the content and made a big difference when attempting past test questions.

Hey Courts! I really like your notes, especially because of how practical they are. They don’t just teach the principles — they also focus on exam technique and, importantly, how to structure an answer, using simple practical examples to make the concepts easier to apply.

I also really like how I feel after working through them. I feel more confident and have a much better mindset going into practice questions because I feel like I’m not only learning the content, but also preparing myself for how I’m actually going to answer the questions in the exam.

Another thing I appreciate is that you really focus on what’s important. Sometimes lectures can go off on different tangents and you end up wondering what you actually need to take from it. Your notes cut through that and keep me focused on the key principles and what I need to know.

Overall, they’ve been really helpful for me, particularly because they bridge the gap between understanding the content and actually being able to apply it in a question.

FAQs

Questions, answered

The things students ask most about the notes, paying and downloads.

What format are the notes in?

Every section is a PDF. Open it on a laptop, tablet or phone, or print it — the layout holds up either way.

What's inside each section?

A comprehensive summary of the topic, with the core concepts and principles explained clearly and in full. Worked examples where the topic calls for them, with calculations and applications done step by step. Everything is structured around the PGDA syllabus and SAICA's competency requirements.

Do I have to buy a full module?

No. Sections are sold individually so you can buy only the topics you're weak on.

Which syllabus do these follow?

The SAICA PGDA/CTA syllabus, with taxation based on current South African legislation and IFRS as applied in the local programme.

Can these notes replace the official course material?

No. They're a study aid, not a replacement for official SAICA/PGDA syllabus content. Every effort goes into making them accurate and thorough, but there's no guarantee they capture every concept, update or requirement in full.

How do I get my notes after paying?

Your download links show up on-screen as soon as payment is confirmed. If you ever need them again, use "Already paid? Get your notes" in the Contact section or footer — just your order reference and the email you paid with.

Can I get a refund?

Because the notes are digital and delivered instantly, sales are final. If a file won't open or the wrong section is sent, message me and I'll fix it right away.

Can I share the notes with my study group?

Each purchase is for one student. Please don't redistribute — if a friend needs a section, buying their own copy keeps this running.
