Privacy policy

Short version: we collect what's needed to get your notes to you and keep a record of the sale, we don't sell or share it for marketing, and we don't run any third-party tracking or analytics on this site — the one exception, our own anonymous visitor stats, is explained in section 6.
1. Who this covers
This is the privacy policy for PGDA Notes by Courts, run by Courtney Wickens as an individual seller. For anything in here, or a request about your own information, contact courtneywickens451@gmail.com — that's also the address to use for any request under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. What we collect
- Email address — required, so your order can be matched back to you when you look up your download links.
- Full name — optional, if you give it at checkout.
- Order details — which sections you bought, the amount, and the order status.
We don't collect or see your card details at all. Payment is handled by Paystack, who process that directly — it never passes through our own systems.
If you leave a review on our review page, we keep your star rating, what you wrote, and the name you chose to show (if any — it can be left blank). Nothing else is asked for, and a review only appears on the site once we've published it. Ask us any time and we'll take yours down.
If you download a free note, we keep your name, email and which free note it was, the same way as an order (it shows as free, with nothing paid). Your name and email are also saved in your browser so the next free download is filled in for you.
3. Why we collect it
To match you to your order so you can look up the notes you paid for, keep a record of the sale for our own bookkeeping, and answer you if you get in touch with a question about an order. Paystack sends its own payment receipt separately, as the processor of the transaction.
4. Who it's shared with
Two service providers process data on our behalf to make the shop work:
- Paystack — processes your payment. See their own privacy policy for how they handle card and payment data.
- Supabase — hosts the database and file storage this site runs on.
Neither uses your information for their own marketing, and we don't sell or share your details with anyone else.
5. How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as reasonably needed for bookkeeping and to handle any questions about a past order.
6. Cookies and local storage
This site doesn't use cookies, and doesn't run any third-party tracking or analytics tool — no Google Analytics, no ad or social media pixels, nothing like that. Your cart is saved in your browser's local storage purely so it survives a refresh, and the email you check out with is saved the same way so the "get your notes" screen can find your order automatically when you're sent back here after paying. Both stay on your device and are never sent anywhere on their own — the email is only sent back to us if you use it to look up an order, the same way typing it into that form would.
Separately, while you have this site open, your browser tab quietly checks in every 20 seconds or so with a random id it makes up on the spot — not a cookie, and not linked to you, your email, or anything else about you. It's used to show a live count of how many browser tabs currently have the site open and how many visits there were each day.
With that same random id we also keep, for our own visitor stats: the kind of site or app you arrived from (for example "Google", "Instagram" or "Direct"), whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and whether you opened a preview, added something to your cart or started checkout. We don't keep the full address of the page you came from, your IP address or your location, and none of it is linked to your name, email or order. We only ever look at it as totals, like "40 visitors came from Google this week".
7. Your rights
Under POPIA, you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to what we're required to keep for legal or bookkeeping reasons, like tax records of a completed sale). Email courtneywickens451@gmail.com for any of this.
8. Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS, and the database that holds order and product information uses row-level security so that, among other things, only server-side code — never the public website code — can read order details or mark an order paid.

This policy may be updated from time to time; the version on this page is the current one.
